Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will reportedly suggest to the club’s hierarchy that they target West Ham’s Declan Rice in the summer transfer window.
According to the Telegraph, the Blues will revive interest in the 22-year-old midfielder at Premier League and London rivals West Ham.
It is understood that Stamford Bridge would be Rice’s preferred destination over other suitors Manchester United and Manchester City if he was to end up leaving the Hammers.
The report adds that Chelsea getting over the line for Champions League qualification could play a big part in any potential deal, and that his price tag is now likely to be around £90million.
Rice, who earns £60,000-a-week, was previously at Chelsea’s academy up until the age of 14.
The defensive midfielder has made a name for himself at West Ham, where he’s now arguably their standout individual.
He’s highly regarded by so many in the game, including by ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who described him as “fantastic” earlier this season.
